- 43.8% were drivers
- 23.6% were passengers
- 16.1% were pedestrians
- 13% were motorcyclists
- 2.5% were bicyclists
- Los Angeles automobile accidents topped the list with 756 fatalities
- 35% of all accidents involved a driver with a BAC (blood alcohol content) of .01 or greater
